About the Hull Street Social Housing Project

The HSSHP is a subsidised social housing rental estate aimed at providing affordable and decent shelter.
It is strictly for low and middle income qualifying South African citizens.

The HSSHP is being constructed in Kimberley’s historic suburb of De Beers, erf 34185. It is the Northern Cape’s first-ever fully fletched social housing landmark.

This residential venture will yield 600 units upon completion. A target of 372 units are set for Phase-1 and to be completed upon two years of construction in 2023.

The locality mirrors the social housing ideal of the development having to be near economic hubs, accessible to transport, job opportunities and a range of community amenities.

We are partly funded by the Department of Human Settlements through its agency, the Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA)….see Our Partners. The agency derives its legislative mandate from the Social Housing Act, No.16 of 2008 amongst others.

Flowing from our breaking ground milestone of mid-August 2021, we have taken to bricks and mortar in our quest of fostering spatial justice, socio-economic change & quality living through social housing.
